Within the last 15 years a comprehensive decision support system in case of nuclear emergencies (RODOS) has been developed, being a product of cooperation of about 40 European institutions. The original system was designed and implemented only for UNIX environments, being based on many software features available at 1990s, which can be greatly improved using the current technologies.

Main objective of the RODOS software re-engineering is to enable the RODOS system to be operated under all commonly used operation systems (such as MS Windows, Linux, MacOS). Additionally, the redesigned system is expected to be scalable, preserve the current native computational models as well as be extendable with the new ones, work with modern GIS engine for both geo-data analysis and visual representation.
